I have noticed more and more people taking the Facebook from a social to a business platform. Facebook has always been a great way to connect with family and friends. There is also a new network "Linkedin". This business network is taking off quickly. I like the idea of both these and use both. Does multiple business networks get to be too much? Should I keep my social network for my social life, or blend them to one?

If I were you, I would stick to one social networking site and do the following;

Create an account for your social life only and do not associate it with your business unless it's related.

Create an account for your business.

If I were you, I would keep your social life away from business because who knows what people can do (or might try to do).

First of all Linkedin has existed for along time now. I'm just not sure who went out first FB or linkedin. Anyways, there is this what they call link wheel or others call it profile wheel or something. It is connecting all of the networks together to create a stronger strategy for them I guess. You can connect all of this "twitter-linkedin-facebook" and it works well. Your post in one site will show up in all connected sites. A pretty interesting way to build profile actually.

Why one or the other? why not both? I've been working with both and they really interact well.
Linkedin has many groups about promoting Facebook, you might find some very interesting content.
Hope it helps!

Yes it maybe popular and there are more people using this website but this is a question of usability. How many niche's do you think has made good money with FB or with linkedin? Not all websites or niche's will make money through facebook. not everyone in facebook is out to buy stuff. mostly they are out to socialize. sometimes when people look at linkedin, they do it for professional reasons. which do you think has the potential to buy more? someone who is out to have fun or someone who is actually checking out a company's profile

Check out how much difference of traffic they make:

i agree facebook is designed more for social uses like family and friends, where linkedin is designed specifically for business/career networking

yes that is definitely true but a lot of people nowadays look at it differently. They just want to make and make money out of those sites. Well, if you ask me, I don't really see websites earning through facebook (well not all niche that is). linkedin and FB can be a really good reference point as contact. if someone wants to know more about you they can visit those websites to see what people are saying abbout you.

I like simplicity. I have both facebook and linkedin but focus more on facebook, I dedicate time each day to work on both. But do have to agree that facebook is more social, but I've found some great leads from facebook and also linkedin. If I had to choose over one or the other, I would choose facebook,

Why not have linkedin AND facebook? Then more can see your links and posts?

Exactly the same as what I've been trying to say. What are the odds that a Facebook visitor is going to facebook to purchase some items? very low.... chances of making some sales over facebook is very low compared to linkedin wherein every profile is a professional one.

Both have their place. There are many people that separate their professional from personal life. Both my accounts are completely different. Other than the picture, you probably would not know I was the same person.

The sad thing, many companies don't allow employees to access Linkedin at work. "Social Media" restrictions. This is too bad. I have made lots of connections and sales leads there.

Twitter: I use Twitter for news to my followers and offers.
