These are obviously valid tips for the basic rules about selling a Wordpress-like blog for the lowest figures of the possible spectrum. However people should also learn about other aspects of this activity in order to achieve highest figures, up to 5000, 10000 USD or even more. Some of these are:
--Grabbing a defensible and valuable name that will
capture the global attention in a foreseeable future;
--Preparing the site people want and use (community,
forum.
--Understanding how dramatically the site value grows in
presence of a large enough, active user base;
--Following the trends and getting ready to sell it at the optimal
moment in which the market is really crazy about the topic;
--Exploring the possibility of SEO efforts to bring organic traffic;
--Learning to automate and mass-produce many valid sites in order
to maximize revenue and minimize efforts with quantity;
--The usage of the received offer as base for an auction
on proper platforms;
--the creation of a brand-feeling (eg MMG) that will create
memorability and authority in favor of your site content;
--the outsorcing of design, content-making and marketing to
capable and affordable professionals found in the proper places;
--the consideration to sell parts of the site rather than
the whole product (eg, links - with caution, because big G
spies you).
There are also risks:
--Technical abilities (php, cms, dns, js, mysql, seo, etc)
mustn't be understated nor neglected, because getting hacked
with buggy sites like Wordpress is commonplace, and same
is about being defrauded with chargebacks and the like
at the moment of the sale.
--I would also recommend to clarify what kind of support you are
willing to provide, for how many days you will answer the
questions and which kind of money back warranty you give.
--Getting the buyer to agree publicly in a reputable place to
your terms is vital, as much as as a honest escrow that will
prevent clever consumers attitude like the chargeback for
virtual goods which have been delivered but that can't
be proved as such (very easy with tools like Paypal).
--It should also b noticed that there may be necessity
to move the whole site to a new server or dns system, so I
recommend to learn about how sites work before of firing up a
Blogspot like thing (and remember, you can't really "sell"
a blogspot or wordpress subdomain).
-----
As any other serious field, flipping sites is evolving from
hobby to industry. This passage means that the lone maker
who doesn't grow in an entrepreneur is doomed to be excluded
from the stronger competition due to the economy of scale.
So the final recommendation is: TEAM UP with EXPERTS, unless
you are one of them and with alot of capitals. If you are an
expert, get funded. If you aren't expert, TEAM UP.
MMG is a good starting point to make capital and work meet...
(yes I consider myself expert enough,
I'm currently working on something large enough,
and if you want to invest you'll be welcome)
