there are many "how to get traffic to your site" threads in this section and even more if you search on Google or other search engines.

But in short, the most important thing is content.

Article Writing - Writing articles exemplifies your expertise in a particular field. Create quality content and people will want to visit your websites highlighted in your 'About the Author' section.

Forum Participation - This is also a great way to get traffic. Always include a signature if you're allowed to. Make quality posts and readers might decide to follow your sig. recommendations

Viral Traffic - If you don't know what viral means as it relates to traffic, it is simply a word used to indicate that your marketing is prone to multiply itself. Viral marketing excites others to spread your marketing messages farther than you could alone. One great tool I use is Linkscout. This has generated me more traffic than I can shake a stick at!

Paid traffic is surely through google adwords, yahoo search marketing, adbrite, etc...

Free traffic may be from forum marketing, article marketing (aka BUM Marketing), video marketing, etc...
