Kasperskys communicats are torment for me. I can do nothing on my PC because it always wants something from me. Moreover I can't play multiplayer games. Other words - useless.

I suggest the use of avast, has many functions like antivirus, firewall, etc... and it's free for personal usage, I had been using this one for near a year and works just fine.

Well this is like Hebrew for me, it is hard to understand.
post-69220-1110229459.gif
But I use Weebroot Spy Sweeper the paid version.
Antivir the free version.
XP:S own firewall I had Norton before but must take it away because I got a keylogger that Norton could not handle.

My question now is that Antivir, they also have a firewall is that good?
Spysweeper also have antivirusprotection now is that good ?
which is the best of those 2?

One more question do you know about thunderbird?

Sometimes I am terrified to handle my e-gold.

I am also worried about to get roboform, tunnel and ewerything else I should have I maybe not being able to get into one single program after that. Because I do not know how to handle such things. post-69220-1110229459.gif

QUOTE(nuk @ Jan 9 2006, 06:16 PM)

This is my latest configuration for security right now on my PC's and laptop:

FIREWALL: Agnitum http://agnitum.com
Simply the best. You can run Windows' firewall with it at the same time if u feel like it too, but it's not necessary.

ANTI-VIRUS: AVG http://grisoft.com
Still the champ by a mile for me. Norton is still a resource-hog, doesn't play well with all programs, and misses viruses. McAfee I haven't tested in about a year. AntiVir is a freebie that's pretty good if you don't mind the manual updating. Worth your time and money to just buy AVG.

SPYWARE/ADWARE: Ewido http://ewido.com
The latest Ewido is top-notch and free. Automatic updating is truly *automatic* in that it doesn't require anything from you the user. Spyware Doctor-a stalwart in spyware/adware and also NOT free-requires some user help and SD has been releasing a few updates each week. I expect software to update itself automatically and then tell me it's done without my help. Especially if I paid money for it. Give Ewido a try and I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's full-scan is time-consuming but much deeper than the freebies like Spybot/AdAware can do.

ANONYMOUS: Findnot, The Cloak. http://www.findnot.com http://www.the-cloak.com
I use Findnot if I want to leave a real false trail like Amsterdam one minute and then Florida the next. Forget about doing that with EMO or PayPal. Or Bank of America now that they have site-key.

BROWSERS: I use Firefox less than before as 1.5 isn't so great to me. It's noticeably slower and more prone to crashing. IE needs a new version badly. Crazy Browser is an IE-clone with tabbed browsing but it can also misbehave like IE too. I'm still not a fan of Opera. I've seen better days for browsers than present. Browsers are expected to do it ALL now and the programming plus the Windoze OS hasn't caught up to that expectation yet.

NUK

so unsure.gif did you drop Metropipe off + get rid of it ?

Ive tried Ewido bt didnt know IF they were truthful-----wut about microsoft antispyware ?

after 10 minutes of setting program access+defaults - to IE + then Options connection LAN to Auto Detect Settings annoyed.gif i waz STILL offline doh.gif then
Ive deleted junk with PestPatrol - owned by CA now + that got me back online = do you like them too ?

+ should I get rid of PCtools RM + AV + erroe nuker ?

Hi guys,

I am using ZoneAlarm free version, Ad-aware and AVG antivirus. So far PC performing and working fine.

I did a "ShieldsUP" scanning of ports 0-1055. Every port were shealth and OK except port 990 which was found to be OPEN.

Link : http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

Report results : Port 990
Name: ftps
Purpose: ftp protocol, control, over TLS/SSL

I want to make this port SHEALTH. Any ideas as to how I can do that ?

Another question I have is regarding surfing through a proxy. Is it normal that surfing this way always have problems of access, being blocked and having limited privilges to most of the sites ?

Like accessing Gmail through a proxy can have problems of access, unable to select ALL messages to delete or even to go into account profile. WHy ? I am using Firefox and a broadband and WIndows XP (SP2).

If these problems and limitations exist, what is the point of going through a proxy even though I gain anonymity?

Thanks !

So use Tor for the tunneler. Its free, highly recommended (even by Metropipe) and, among others, includes Metropipe's servers.
