Google's Chrome is poised to become the second-biggest Web browser in the world before the end of the year, according to StatCounter. If trends as measured by the Ireland-based Web statistics firm's analytics tools hold up, Chrome will pass Mozilla's Firefox sometime in December and trail only Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) in global average user share.

This doesn't surprise me. A lot of people seem to be making the jump to Chrome.

Chrome has become my browser of choice over the last year or so. I used to love Firefox, but as more and more updates came, I started having more and more problems. But... I'd take anything over IE. I'm a fan of Opera, and Safari isn't too bad. Most things seem Chrome-friendly now. I had a few problems with some sites in the past and would have to switch to a different browser, but since Chrome has become more popular and things have been ironed out... I haven't been having many problems.

It's smoother, for me. Runs a lot faster on my piece of rubbish computer than any other does, apart from Opera, maybe.

I was totally a FireFox faithful until FF5. I didn't particularly like it. Made the jump to Opera, used that for quite a few months, and then on a whim decided to give Chrome a go. I thought it was pretty cool, seemed quicker, but ultimately went back to using FF. However, I can see why Chrome is making that race to top... it was pretty simple and easy to use when I tried it, and searching google right from the address bar was pretty slick.

I've noticed Chrome is a bit faster for browsing and crashes less than Firefox in my experience.

Very much enjoying Chrome now. I did like Firefox but never after I spent 2 hours trying to make Firefox 5 look and behave like Firefox 4 I decided it wasn't worth my time any more. Chrome works great and Google seem to be wanting to keep it as simple as possible to keep its speed up. If you remember Firefox was much like chrome is now 4-5 years ago. As long as Google keep to the original design idea of speed and usability then it shall easily overtake Firefox.

I consider which ever browser is in 2nd place to be the best browser. IE only gets so many users because of the millions of people who don't have extensive knowledge of the internet and computers in general. I wouldn't be surprised is half of those IE users didn't even know they had a choice when it came to browsers.

I've been going back and forth between the two. On the whole i like chrome better. I think they may very well pass firefox because they have a ton of money behind the product, whereas FF is mainly non profit.

Google is pimping Chrome big-time, especially with TV ads and ads on the google.com homepage. It has nowhere to go but up in the desktop browser war.

I quite like Chrome recently - it's simplicity and quickness is far superior than in FF

I surprised only with one thing...why not the first place? as for me Google Chrome is easy in use not slowing the whole system and really comfortable!

I also do like google chrome - it is really simple and fast. However i still use firefox sometimes, but only older versions. New Firefox updates really made it much more complicated to use.
