I'm very interested in internet business, and I am looking to start a few websites to generate some extra income. I have a reasonable amount of money I'm willing to invest in lower-risk ideas that will help me.

I am just curious where to start. I have always been a hard worker, but I need to know what work I should be doing hard. What will lead to an eventual income? Also, once I have an established site running, will it still require regular maintenance? After my first site is going and I have enough, when do I open site #2? Do I choose a new niche? I just need to know everything, and it's so overwhelming.

I am open to ANY advice you all have to give. Thank you all in advance.

I do not think internet is a profitable business at all. You need lots of money, reasonable time, knowledge of coding. Open a PTR site, ptc site or an affiliate program.

My Suggestion is to look for a new technology, product or service, and build a blog and forum around it because anyone else does. This will get you into the niche real fast, allowing you to build on it once the niche becomes mainstream.

I appreciate your replies.

I should have mentioned, I have twelve years of web programming experience. In fact, I have a BASIC idea of how all this internet business stuff works because I've freelanced for many, many, many clients of this type. I never did ask them their tricks though, and that is why I'm not left so uneducated. I know my way around a computer and the web more or less like the back of my hand. I am not worried I won't be able to figure something out. So give me all the advice you want, I am not asking an EASY or CHEAP startup. I am able to raise any money that I may need, and I am a very hard worker.

And also, if it isn't a profitable business, then why would anyone be in it?

It can be very profitable. You sound like you have the skills to make some money too, like uncle awesome said you should start with a blog. make it something that you are interested in and have some knowledge about! Or you can research a niche you think will be good then make a nice blog about it.
