It's hot up here in Queensland too AppleXY I don't have air conditioning and it is so muggy as storms are hanging about. Been raining on and off for days now. Not complaining though, we need the water as we went 200 days without rain, so the local weatherman said the other day. Last rain I remember was in February so would be about right. Hard to believe it is New Years Eve. The last page closes on 2009. But i am looking ahead A whole new year, actually let's go the whole hog >>>>> a whole new decade. Writing 2010 a few times at work today, takes some getting used to. Must be a sign of age as it didn't seem that long ago all the millimum stuff with the year 2000 lol How all the computers were going to crash!! Remember that, I actually stayed online all night to see what if anything was going to happen. lol At work they spent thousands to protect the data and PCs. I was prepared for the computer fry. Actually was a big let down. To all Aussies and visitors here, I wish you all a safe, healthy and happy New Year. AussieLady

Okay, well I haven't been here in my 'home' thread for many months.
Global Profits and Aussie Lady, have just sent you long overdue messages, please accept my apologies.
Wow, looking forward to the tennis tonight.....really hope Andy Murray wins, totally sick of Federer.
I have had an exceptionally busy 2009 studying full time Business Administration, but did it and passed and within 2 weeks of finishing found my dream job at our hospital (the largest in regional Vic) working in Medical Administration. Great hours, great days, it's ideal for me.
A very big hello to anyone who may remember me, I haven't had the time to go through the thread to see if anyone who still knows me is posting.
Will make a concerted effort to visit this thread regularly again, had some fun times and posts here!!
Regards Cheryl

Thanks for you long reply Cheryl.
I don't know what others here think about the idea of changing the Australian flag and deleting the Union Jack from it but here's a poem that pretty much says what I believe - that the Union Jack is part of our history and that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be part of the future but it should stay on the flag because of the history. What do you think? Our Flag
Author: Unknown
Our Flag wears the stars that blaze at night, In our Southern skies of blue, And a little old flag in the corner, That's part of our heritage too.
It's for the English, the Scots and the Irish, Who were sent to the ends of the earth, The rogues and schemers, the doers and dreamers, Who gave modern Australia its birth.
And you, who are shouting to change it, You don't seem to understand, It's the flag of our laws and our language, Not the flag of a faraway land.
Though there are plenty of people who'll tell you, How when Europe was plunged into night, That little old flag in the corner, Was their symbol of freedom and light.
It doesn't mean we owe allegiance, To a forgotten imperial dream, We've the stars to show where we're going, And the old flag to show where we've been.
It's only an old piece of bunting, It's only an old piece of rag, But there are thousands who've died for its honour, And shed of their blood for OUR FLAG. AussieLady

I got one better. AN irish man sits down at a manhattan bar, and orders three guisnesses for himself all at once, The bartender perplesed by this asks why he wants all three at once. The man replied"In me home****ry Idd always have a drink wit me tooo brudders", "So i drink to them". A week later the man comes in and orders "two Guisnesses". The bartender shocked asked if everything was ok with his brothers, because he had neglected to order one a drink. the man replied" O h me brudders r fine, I just quit drinking for lent"
