Anyone here with Amazon who has an aStore? If so, how do you find it works, do you get many sales through your aStore?

That's because the aStore belongs to Amazon, and there are thousands of them. They aren't meant to be stand-alone, but embedded within existing sites. The search engines will pick up content on those sites and in the normal course of events visitors will hopefully visit the aStore.

As you say though, aStores are very rarely picked up by the search engines.

Interesting. I didn't even know Astores existed. I used to be an affiliate for Amazon and simply sold products via product links with them. I will have to check them out and see if I can work it into any of my sites

At one time aStores could be stand-alone. But Amazon changed its TOS and made it so that they had to be integrated into a site or blog.

I have it. It's easy to build astore because Amazon provides easy to use tools. You can customise aStore and pick individual products and sort them in categories that relate to your site's topics.

Yea I have tested the astore but it doesn't convert nearly as well as individual products and reviews for each. My conversions were 30% better.

AStore looks good and simple, it can be SEOed to get indexed by search engine , I made the site 3 days and get over 50 links indexed, search with keyword: site:yoursite.com

SEO and go to the right place to promote your aStore. Creating FB fan pages for any specific product is a good idea. Otherwises, Free Classified ads and twitter are good too.

Is the affiliate program open to international members and what are their payment options?

I wouldn't wast time creating astore since it's hosted on amazon websites and they are very hard to rank. I would recommend setting up a blog or looking into a full amazon store script and then creating nice quality amazon stores.
