Right... So now AMD just bought giant graphics card maker ATI...

Considering that... And the fact that Intel and AMD have been on a war beteween themselves for a long time, would you say that from now on Intel might refuse to support ATI graphic cards from now on? Or maybe just start making a deal with nVidia, so that the war will be Intel + nVidia X AMD + ATI...
This is crazy tongue4.gif
But somehow I'm liking it! clapping7.gif

I read some speculations about their integrated CPU and GPU, wonder how that will work out. Multi core CPU, and GPU using CPU slots?
Or maybe it will be just a complect of CPU, motherboard chip and GPU, something similar like Intel Centrino for laptops.

AMD is probably going to launch a beast of a processor/video thing soon.

I think Intel will continue support Ati cards. They don't want to lose that market. Amd will move to a gpu that can process some cpu instructions.
They are trying to diversify their market so they can get rid of their dependence in cpu market.

And nvidia will buy intel (now that's cool!!!) rofl4.gif rofl4.gif

It isn't a merger as originally thought so ATI will now be called AMD.

This move is actually the only move that AMD had to make in order to stay competitive in the next five years. If you look at AMD's business model, you will see that their major revenue source is in cpu chips. For Intel, besides cpus, they are the largest suppliers of graphics chips in the non-discreet market which makes up more than 2/3's of the overall install base. At the same time, Intel gains revenue through sales of their own motherboard chipsets while AMD has to rely on Nvidia and Via. Not only that, if one looks just at the CPU market, AMD will surely see declining sales in the next fiscal year due to the strong Intel lineup. With a uncertain future in their core competency, AMD had to initiate horizontal integration in order to expand their business and not be squeezed out of the market.

Doesn't make much sense... ATI is a well known brand.

Good morning everyone,
I have trouble with my present 3-year used graphics card, and I think it's time to get a new graphics card.
I am confused about if you can advise me a good solution that could match my computer system?
2.01GHz
2GB of RAM
AMD Sempron Processor 3400+
ACPI Uniprocessor Computer
I'm having the motherboard sound, so, a latest sound card may also be a perfect option.
I'd be very thankful for any recommendation you can give me.

The GPU is the least of your worries right now, man. Your PC is painfully out of date, your CPU alone is almost 7 years old. I'd highly suggest just saving and getting a new rig altogether from somewhere like Dell or something like that. Computer parts are pretty cheap right now due to the financial situations.
