Prahlad Jani, an 82-year-old Indian yogi, is making headlines by claims that for the past 70 years he has had nothing -- not one calorie -- to eat and not one drop of liquid to drink. To test his claims, Indian military doctors put him under round-the-clock observation during a two-week hospital stay that ended last week, news reports say. During that time he didn’t ingest any food or water – and remained perfectly healthy, the researchers said.

That's possible. We get (vital) energy we need from food and water, the earth, air and the sun. If we mastered the techniques to absorb vital energy from air, the earth and/or the sun, we wouldn't likely need food anymore. At least that what I ever read. smile.gif

Well, I am not sure how logical or possible that could be. Every living organism NEEDS to consume other living organisms to stay alive. If not the body will get into some sort of metabolic state in which it starts consuming itself. I saw an interview with an expert who claims that the Yogi could perhaps be taking in water from his baths. He did not say he is drinking the water but rather that droplets of water might stay in his beard and that MIGHT be a way he is getting minimal fluid into his body. NOW that is a theory, of course no one really knows how it happens.

Yeah no one exactly know how it happens, but I described before, I think it's possible. We just need to be open minded. Almost anything is possible in this vast universe. And mind you, the guy is not the only person who can survive for years without consuming food and water.

Thats something. I think it can be a hoax-I mean I think you can survive with water alone for more than a month. But no water and no food for years... Just sounds soo impossible.
If there was a documentary from a reputable network, then thats something I can follow. rolleyes.gif

Fairly possible...
Everyone is aware of the meditation technique of Yoga, which is originated in India. Through yoga it is possible to control your body and the mind. But the art of yoga can be mastered by only those who have the will power and the determination to do so. I have personally tried different 'aasanas' of yoga. It gives perfect relaxation to the mind. Though I cannot control my hunger and thirst...lol...

You don't need to anyway. :D Though it is possible to possess the power to control hunger and thirst through yoga, but it's not advisable to do that. The main and the only goal of yoga is to attain self realization.

It is certainly possible to control your hunger and thirst using the power of your mind, but it is not possible to change the way the human body works. It needs nutrition. Extreme fasting for extended periods of time leads to catabolism. Simply put, your body begins to consume its own muscle in a desperate attempt to feed itself. This however cannot keep you alive for 70 years. lol. You'd certainly die of stroke or heart attack caused by extreme dehydration, among other ailments associated with malnutrition.....and this guy claims to have no health problems?? Please. rolleyes.gif

No way!! I don't buy that the human body can not survive with out food let alone water! Now maybe if he was just drinking water and not eating food yes I would believe that! But no food or water for 70 years it's just not possible at all he had to of been cheating and eating here and there..
