Hi everyone,
MoneySlack here.
I've seen some scary stuff when doing whois lookups on some of these cyclers.
What is a whois lookup?A whois lookup is a way to see who registered a website when the site was purchased. It also shows the birth and expiration date of the name registered. Some show how long the site will be hosted for.
How do I do a whois lookup? You can use any search engine like so:
search "whois sitename" to find a whois service.
Different webhosts use different nameservers and databases.
I prefer whois.net when I background check a site.
What exactly am I looking for when I do the lookup? You are looking for things that don't make sense.
Fake names. Fake addresses. Phone numbers with the wrong amount of digits.
Check and see if the site name is about to expire. Check for obvious signs of fraud.
What if the website is anonymously registered? Some website owners want private registration to avoid getting spam. If the admin of the program remains anonymous, that's fine with me. But, then you think?
"How do I find them?"
Easy, write the admin of the program and see if they'll give out name and phone number and talk to you. Or at least an address of the company. If not, then it just might be a scam.
I also like to google the info I find on whois, to dig deeper, to see if the admin is legitimate or not.
Dealing with webhosts:I've also called many different webhosts, and they ALWAYS take the clients side. The client is the site owner and the web host will protect them, even if you complain about money being lost, fraud, spam, etc.
Most webhosts will not give out any information to anyone, unless they are law enforcement with a warrant or subpoena.
Telephone the admin:My favorite option is talking to the admin of the cycler on the telephone. This usually can clear things up. Sometimes it may not, or may make things even more confusing. Another tell tale sign, not to invest.

tdinoz brings up a very valid point. Even if you get in touch with the admin, it could still be a false venture.

So you write to an admin who uses "who is privacy protect service" and he gives you his phone number! That doesn't tell me the cycler will be worth a punt or that he knows his left ear from his right.
This is a valid point. Do not neccesarilly trust someone just becuase you get them on the phone. Please use your best judgement.
Other techniques to check a cycler out:Do some websearching. See if someone has been scammed already!
Cruise the forums. See which members are supporting the programs. See if people are complaining, or if they are getting paid. Check out how long they've been around, and talk to people who have been paid.
Contact other members of the cycler and see what they think.
Contact the person who referred you!!! See what your upline thinks about the program!
Don't be afraid to contact the admin of the cycler on a regular basis. If you're sending someone your money, you sure have the right to talk to them and inquire about it.
Conduct a test spend. Try risking a small amount.
Cyclers are not a get rich quick scheme or a new career. Do not risk more then you are willing to lose.
Use common sense!!! Invest wisely. Think it out before you risk your money. I cannot stress this one enough!
I hope this info can help others profit from cyclers.
I will post this as a continuous guide and edit this article as needed.
I encourage others to post methods on testing the legitamacy of a cycler.
