The reason I’m creating a travel blog is that when I decided to become part of Cruise To Cash is because of the travel part of the business. I’m not going to go into all about Cruise To Cash in my blog, I will save that for the forum and my other online marketing. I plan to share with you some of my travel experiences that I have been lucky enough to have in the past.

I spent about five years working for Thomson & Thomson Travel Company, a family business out of Hartford Connecticut. My Uncle was and is the President of the company and my father was his partner and the executive vice president. We specialized in incentive travel programs for medium sized companies where there best sales people and best clients would win trips to all parts of the world if they bought or sold so much. For example if sales rep X sold this much product over this sales period he and his wife or husband would get 5 nights and 6 day trip to London or to the Bahamas etc. Or if client Y purchased this many plastic bags over this time period they would get the same trip. It would increase the company’s sales and give the company the opportunity to reward and recognize their best sales people and also wine and dine their very best clients.

Our companies job was to do everything from purposing the contest, (which was difficult, because we needed to know the customer product lines, know the profit margin of each product, what lines were going to be discontinued, what lines they wanted to push, we needed to know what their commission structure of their sales people were, did they have brokers, and if so how they were paid, what other types of overhead they had etc.), to doing the internal company marketing, to doing the trip planning, going on the pre-trip visits, to coordinating the trip, to the ticketing, to the hotel, transportation, to everything on the trip, to going on the trip. We went on the trip with the group to ensure everything went perfect. That meant we were up two hours before breakfast and went to bed after the CEO of the company went to bed.

It was very tiring, however the experiences I had the people I met were fantastic. The biggest problem was that the four months a year I travel I lived like a king, but for the rest of the year I couldn’t afford to pay the rent.

With my involvement with Cruise To Cash and my many travel experiences I think writing about travel would be the perfect outlet in a blog.
